Baby Kolchuk is due today!

May 27th, 2009. A Day that has been in our heads and hearts for nine months. Today, at 12noon, Baby Kolchuk was to be born via a scheduled c-section. Today was the day we'd find out if Baby was a boy or girl. Today, we were supposed to meet our Baby for the first time.

Today, Baby Kolchuk is 8 days old, and his name is Aiden Vincent Kolchuk.

It felt weird to schedule a c-section and basically pick the baby's birthday, but over time, we had grown into the idea. 5/27/09 felt like a good day, with good numbers. Good why? Because you can play math with them. Add 5 + 2 to get 7. Add 2 + 7 to get nine, and then reverse it and subtract. The numbers just work.

But, like his brother before him, Aiden wanted to pick his own birthday, and he picked another good one. 5/19/09. Tyler was born 11/15/05. I notice the 9's in Aiden and the 5's in Tyler.

Aiden was born at 11:11am. If you are into numbers, 11 is a strong one. To have two of them as his birth time, is even better. If you remember, Tyler was born 8 pounds 10 ounces. 8/10 is Kelly and I's anniversary.

So, it all seems to just fit into place. It was all meant to be.

Today, Aiden is eating like a fiend. He enjoys long spurts of feeding, usually in the overnight. My poor wife is so sleep deprived, yet so strong. Kelly's parents are helping wth Tyler, around the house, and with feedings, which offers us a lot of relief. They have been so helpful.

When I look at the world today, it's through tired and heavy eyes, which have caused me to fix a billion typos in this post, especially in this one sentence. My eyes may be heavy, my heart is not. My heart is alive (helped by doses of mountain dew) with love for my new little boy, and my newly expanded family.
