Active

Baby Boy Kolchuk has become quite active recently, and it's almost predictable now. He's beginning to kick and move around on a schedule. We've noticed he likes to start kicking at night a lot, usually around 10pm. It's fun to feel him push against Kelly, and she's noticed that he's kicking or punching or elbowing a bit harder now. Either he's moving around a lot inside the womb, or he' s using his hands and feet at the same time, because he seems to find new places to kick each time.

The countdown is now on to when he should be able to start hearing. We've been told it happens around 24 weeks, and Kelly is at 23 right now. It's very exciting to think that he'll be able to hear us soon. There is so much we want to say to him. (There's so much I want to ask him, too.) I'm thinking we'll ask him which name he likes better of the current choices, and see what he reacts to. We are finding some favorites, but have not come anywhere close to deciding on one, and may even enter the birth with a couple on hand and see what happens.

For those interested, he's about 10 inches now, and weighs about one pound. At least that's what the norm is for this stage of the pregnancy. Our doctor said things are normal, so we're going with it.

Over the weekend we attended a Baby Seminar on Safety and found that it was mostly a live infomercial for the hosts' products. He did have some interesting things to say and we did learn some things, but for the most part, he was trying to sell the group his products.

We started to set up the Baby registry as well, and it's such a reality check to realize how much you really need. We have been so lucky to have such generous friends and family who have made it much easier for us, and we can't tell you how much it means. It's unreal how much you need to think of and do to prepare for the baby. It can be a bit overwhelming at times.
