Depot Days & Poop

It's hard to believe, but 12 days from now, we'll be moving into our new home. Like all things lately, this time as passed very fast. We're still packing and preparing for the move, which seems to be our main focus lately.

However, on Saturday we took some time off and enjoyed the Depot Days in South Lyon. The Witch's Hat Depot is an old depot from South Lyon's history. Along with this, historians have moved a small church, school, gazebo, and caboose to an area outside of McHattie Park.

At the Depot Days, Tyler spent hours...literally, watching a big HO gauge train setup. Unless we distracted him, he was only interested in watching the trains move around the very detailed layout. Pulling him away to eat lunch or walk around a bit was not easy, but eventually he calmed down enough to walk around with us and try some activities. We threw bean bags through holes in a wooden board painted like a train. Tyler was very good at getting the bags through the holes from a distance.

We also played with hula-hoops. He stood with his arms out, while I took one and spun it around him. They had hot dogs and snacks, so we made our donation to the South Lyon Historical Society by buying lunch and eating on the grass near the small stream in the park. It was a perfect day, no humidity, sunny, and very relaxing. We enjoyed some quality family time that day. So much so, that we took Tyler back to the train layout later that evening before going to church. The train guys recognized us....lol, and told us about a HUGE layout they do in Lansing from November to April. I think we'll be making that 1 hour drive.

We also have exciting news. Tyler pooped on the potty for real, of his own choosing, for the official first time that weekend! It was a huge accomplishment for him and we were so excited. Potty training is not easy and poor Tyler, who has trouble getting his plumbing to work on a regular basis, is trying so hard.

We also removed one side of his crib, (with pillows on the floor) in preparation for his eventual transition to a toddler bed. He likes it and seems to like being able to crawl into it on his own at night.

Just a few more memories to add to the collection we'll be bringing with us in 12 days.
