November 9th, 2006

November 9th, 2005 was a day I spent 9 months focusing on. It was the day Tyler was due. Even though we expected him to come late by this point last year, and even though we knew it was just guess work, I still focused on November 9th. Anything after the 9th was crossing into new and unknown territory, which I guess, in a way, is appropriate, cuz that's exactly what we did.

November 9th, 2006. Tyler is 6 days away from his first birthday. He has seven teeth and is crawling around like a madman.

He likes to open our kitchen cabinets, (safety latches ready just in case he decides to disobey and grab things), he loves to open and close doors.

He loves to put things in things and take them back out.

He laughs when he farts. He laughs when Daddy does.

He pulls himself up to a standing position as much as he can.

He's a picky eater, and loves to drop food in the kitchen floor. He loves cheese sticks and yogurt. He also likes chocolate, and he hates meat.

He laughs a lot and is very cuddly when in a good mood.

He turns on his mobile to listen to music when he goes to bed and when he wakes up.

He puts everything he can in his mouth.

He crawls as if he was using a cane, when he has an object in one hand that he doesn't want to let go of.

He goes to bed at 7:45pm and wakes up between 6a - 7:15a.

He can repeat syllables. If you say bye-bye, he'll say "buh".

He is learning how to sign back to us.

He doesn't care about watching TV. (We consider this a good thing.)

He points to things all the time, uttering baby talk as he does.

He waves bye-bye to the bath water as it drains from the tub.

And all of this is just a small fraction of who he is. Tyler is becoming such a little person with his own unique qualities, and writing posts like this only make me miss him more while he's in daycare. But they also make me appreciate the true miracle that Kelly and I have experienced.

We are so lucky and so blessed to have Tyler as our son.
