Tyler Today

Because he's growing so fast and there is so much we see and experience with him every single day, it's not easy to write it all down here, so the following is a partial list of who Tyler is right now, today, March 17th, 2006. (Happy St. Patty's Day!)


1. Tyler is very interactive and responsive. He is aware of the world around him. He loves to just take it all in as to not miss something important.

2. Tyler "talks" to us with "coos" and more complex sounds now. He uses his tongue to partake in a conversation with us...or even just himself. He's been known to just start talking out of the blue, for reasons only he knows.

3. Tyler has discovered his hands and feet. He spends time looking at his hands and touching his knees and feet. He tries to pull his foot into his mouth, but has not succeeded yet.

4. Everything...absolutely everything he touches must go into his mouth. Whether it be a toy, or Daddy's knuckle, or even a burp cloth or bib. He even sucked on my neck one day when I was holding him over my shoulder...lol. Try explaining that hickey...

5. He loves to pull his knees to his chest in an attempt to grab them or touch his feet, and then he rolls to his left side. We expect him to roll over soon.

6. Tyler can hold his head up while on his tummy, and seems to enjoy it more than when he was younger.

7. Tyler is becoming a squirmy wormy. He loves to kick and arch his back when we change his diaper. If left alone, he'll push his legs out and move himself backwards, always with a smile or happy hands and feet.

8. Tyler is now starting to eat rice cereal in addition to his bottle.

9. Tyler knows what his bottle is and that is has his food in it. He is very impatient while we warm it up and is beginning to grab the bottle and pull it towards his mouth. His accuracy is a bit off and it's kinda amusing, but we help him get it started then hold it for him.

10. Tyler loves to touch your hands or arms when he eats. He sometimes just looks up and locks on to your eyes and it's a wonderful feeling. When we cradle him he loves to reach up and touch our face. He seems to like Daddy's facial hair.

11. Have hair on your head? He'll pull it. Kelly sometimes has to pry his clenched fingers from her hair, and he's a strong boy...it's not easy and usually painful for Kelly. Tyler has also smudged my glasses in an attempt to pull them off my face.

12. He loves when we read him books. He gets so excited and looks at every page, usually trying to grab the book, too.

13. Tyler has learned how to amuse himself, and is less needy of our attention than previously. He seems to talk to whatever he looks at, or just lays there trying to get his entire hand in his mouth.

14. Tyler sucks his thumb now, and we aren't thrilled about it, but he's a baby and that's what babies do.

15. Tyler has two white slivers of teeth beginning to show on his front lower gums.

There are so many more little things that make up this unique little person and it would take me way too long to write it all down. But, I can tell you that these little moments, the unspoken ones that just sort of happen, are so special. Tyler is so much fun to spend time with and he is such a good boy. He has such a good demeanor.

When I look at the world today, I am proud of the way its turning out. This little miracle we created has changed the way we look at life.

To quote a Sammy Hagar song, called "Kama":

"Today, love has taken on a whole new meaning, in a face I know I've seen somewhere before."

Those lyrics ring so true....I look at Tyler and I swear I've seen that face somewhere before...

They have not invented the right word to explain how much I love Tyler.
