Sick For The Rest Of Our Lives

We spent Saturday morning at the pediatrician office to find out that Tyler has another cold. This one hit him really hard. He developed a terrible cough that hurt us just listening to it. And the sad face he makes when he coughs, combined with the soft moan of pain afterwards, are enough to draw tears from Kelly and make me just ache. We feel so bad for him. We're giving him some over-the-counter medicine and it seems to be helping. But, seeing his eyes water up, his nose run, and hearing that awful cough just rip through his neck, makes us feel so helpless. The doctor said it's just a bad cold and she gave us some eye drops to help with his watery issue.

For the last five nights, he's woken himself up in the middle of the night because of a cough, or because he can't breathe. We've lost a lot of sleep trying to take care of him through the night.

Last night, he slept a bit better and he woke up with a ton of smiles. You see, when he sleeps, he visits Dreamland, and in one of the corners of Dreamland is a Smile Factory where Tyler stocks up his supply for the day. He slept better last night, and that meant he had plenty of time to shop around the factory, because, as I wrote, he unloaded a bunch of smiles on us this morning.

With Daycare an unfortunate necessity, it appears that Kelly and I will always be sick, for the rest of our lives. It's a vicious cycle: Tyler gets sick from Daycare, gives it to us, we give it back to him, who gives it back to the kids at Daycare, who, in turn, give it back to him again. Kelly and I are now on our 2nd cold in a row, with no break. Ugh....

Oh! And it should be noted that two very tiny white slivers are beginning to appear on Tyler's lower front gums....teething while sick?

Sleep deprivation? I remember you...

Mondays are usually Picture Days, so here's a couple Valentine's Day leftovers:
