Meaning of "Original"

I found this on one of my U2 websites and thought it was a good explanation of the song I wrote about in my last post:

ORIGINAL OF THE SPECIES

Bono wrote the lyrics of this song for Holy Evans, Edge's elder daughter and his goddaughter. But on a wider level, this song is about the problems of adolescence, about not feeling comfortable in his own body or not having enough self-confidence ("about seeing some people who are ashamed of their bodies, in particular teenagers with eating disorders, not feeling comfortable with themselves and their sexuality" to quote Bono). Bono gives advice here: trust yourself, don't try to become someone else. You are a unique being, and this is not a flaw but a strength ("You are the first one of your kind").
